AROUND NYAUNGSHWE

Several people do canoetrips on the canals around the city. So did we.
We started in the late afternoon until the early evening
The views of the houses on stilts and the dayly life along these canals was fascinating. The people were very friendly.
The slow moving canoe through legrowing is ideal for photography, video and relaxation.

Inle Lake itself, is 22 km long and average 11 km wide, about 875 m above sealevel. There are 17 villages on stilts and they live from crops of vegetables, fruit, rice ... cultivated on floating islands of water hyacinth, marsh and soil, staked to the lakebottom with bamboo poles. Between the many floating gardens are canals, where fishing is practised intensively.
